Special Features Lead Off 10th Anniversary Edition
of The Valley Book
The 10th Anniversary Edition of The Valley Book will feature
a special upfront tribute to Farmington Valley business people
and non-profit community organizations.
The Valley Photo Album 2009 honors independent local businesses. A collection
of almost 100 classic full color portraits of well-respected local business owners,
The Valley Photo Album 2009 represents some of the outstanding work of noted
Simsbury photographer Hunter Neal that has appeared in The Valley Book during
the past decade.
Another part of the tribute honors non-profit community organizations that have
had major impact on the quality of life in the Valley over the last decade. Five
organizations will be selected in the “Valley-wide” category, which
means that their work has influenced all five Valley towns. Five others will
be chosen for the “Town-centered” category, which means their work
is focused primarily on the town where they are located. The five towns include
Farmington, Avon, Canton, Simsbury and Granby.
Valley residents will have a chance to vote for the groups they think most deserving
from a list of nominees presented on The Valley Book.com from September 1, 2008
to December 1, 2008. Winners will be announced online on December 15, 2008 and
appear in a two page tribute in The Valley Book 2009.
Facebook honorees and boards of the winning non-profits will be feted as special
guests at The Valley Book Gala 10th Anniversary Celebration at the Simsbury Inn
in February. The celebration is sponsored entirely by The Valley Book and all
invitees will be welcomed free of charge.
